There were two cows talking with each other. One of them says to the other, "What's your opinion on this whole thing with Mad Cow Disease?"
The other cow replies, "I don't have to worry about it. I'm a helicopter!"

Arizona Road Trip Part Two

Dave and I also visited the Grand Canyon. We went on Saturday with my parents. Here are the pictures from that:

Arizona Road Trip

So, I'm in Arizona. That means...Road Trip!

Dave and I planned a trip a while ago to come down and see the Grand Canyon during his spring break. And then, after my mom's heart attack, it became a trip to also come and visit her. I've been worried about her, even though I've known she was recovering, so it's been nice to be here. And it's been nice to show Dave around Northern Arizona a bit! Here are some pictures from our visit to Walnut Canyon on Friday.

Here are one of the ruins up close. It's been rebuilt by the park service to show poeple what it would have been like, but all of the easily accessible ones were pretty much destroyed by visitors and souvenir seekers in the late 1800s.

Across the canyon, though, there were some ruins that were genuine, so here a few shots of those.





There's also some great plant life at Walnut Canyon! Here are some beloved Ponderosa pine trees. In the canyon there are also walnut trees (shockingly!) and other kinds of pine trees.
And yucca! (Yuck...ugh!)

I loved the trip. Walnut Canyon is a place that I have fond memories of from my childhood, and I loved sharing that with Dave.

I got accepted into my program at BYU!!

That's right! I am going to be attending BYU for my graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)! I found out that I was accepted to the program Monday, March 9th.

And I am so excited to be a student again. I know what you're thinking...I'm crazy. But I really do miss being a student. And I enjoy my job teaching ESL writing way more than I enjoy anything else I'm doing, so I know that I'll enjoy the things I'll be doing as a graduate student. The certificate program takes about 1 year to complete, and then I'll apply to the master's degree program that will also take about a year to complete. Wahoo!

I have recently become aware that only one person who commented on Pay it Forward has actually posted the rules to their blog. Maybe you've forgotten. Maybe you decided you didn't want to do it. Wow, I haven't blogged in a long time! Don't worry, I have a lot to blog about, and I'll do it in several posts over the next few days. But first things first...

My family emergency.
My mom had a heart attack on March 1st. It was very scary. I went down to Arizona for a week to be with her and the rest of my family. She is recovering well now, and I attribute that to the many prayers that I know so many of you said on her behalf. Thank you for your faith. Please continue to pray for her, if you are so inclined. She is still regaining energy, and she is in need of comfort and peace as she gets used to the short-term limitations she has on her body during the recovery process.

I've been back in Provo since March 8th, but I've been working like crazy to make up hours missed and to be able to come down to Arizona again this week. I'm in Arizona now, visiting my parents and doing some work for my office, and it's so good to see Dad and Mom again! She's really made a lot of progress in the last three weeks, and it makes me so happy to see that faith can aid in the working of miracles in our lives!

And Happy (late) St. Patty's Day!
