What a View!

In my last post, I didn't mention one of the best parts of our new home.  It's the view from the back sliding door.

What's so awesome about the view?  Well, let me tell you!  If I sit at my kitchen table, I have a great view of these little guys:

And you probably wouldn't believe it, but this position also offers views of lizards, quail, other birds, some kind of small ground rodent (I think prairie dogs, Dave thinks chipmunks), and other rabbits.  That big tree straight ahead is their hang out.

We rather enjoy watching these guys scurry about, playing, looking for food, and avoiding being eaten.  They are adorable, and we have taken to calling them our children (since we don't have any).  One day, soon after we had decided to do this, Dave and I were talking on the phone.  Dave was walking around in an abandoned golf course in Pahrump near where we live (pictured below) where there are lots more of these cute critters.  Here is a reconstruction of our conversation:

Dave: I was at work today and I decided to start an interesting project.  Hi kids!  I'm going to create some rules for the court.
Me: Hmmm, what kind of rules are you talking about?
Dave: Well, there are already district rules that lawyers follow, but there are some procedural rules that need to be spelled out.  Hi kids!
Me: The lawyers don't already know the procedures?
Dave: These are rules that aren't implemented already that I'd like the judges to sign off on implementing.  Hi kids!
Me: Are you really saying hi to kids?
Dave: I'm saying hi to our kids.
Me: (Silence).  Oh, you're in the golf course!  Say hi to the kids for me!

Yeah, there's a lot of dried grass and trees.  And running trails that Dave and I use occasionally.   And a couple of ponds.  That's where our real exotic kids are.  There are swans and geese and ducks and other stuff.  None of which are pictured here.  But they're great kids!

*Also, I recently published another post with pictures from New Orleans that I never got around to blogging about in April.  You can find that post here.*

Our Real New Home

Okay, here are the real pictures, as promised. I really do love this little half of a duplex that is ours. It's the first place that is truly Our Own.

Here is our garage.  It's big enough for our little bit of junk and one car.

Here is the view from the front door.  We have some chairs to the left, in front of the front window, that you can't see here.  Straight ahead are the short hallways that lead to the bedrooms and bathrooms, the master on the right and the guest on the left.  And then to the right is the dining room/kitchen.

Here is the guest bathroom.

And the guest bedroom.  We have our computer hooked up to a large screen TV in here (since the computer monitor is  broken).

The book shelves are all in the guest room, too, so we actually spend quite a bit of time in here.  I am actually typing this post in here right now!

Here is the master bedroom.

And here is the master bath.  This picture was taken from our bedroom.  It comes off of our room, not the hallway.  I really love having a bathroom connected to my room!!!

Our dining room.

Here is our kitchen.  It really is pretty big, which I like a lot.

This is our little back porch.  We don't spend too much time out here because it's stinkin' hot outside most of the time.

Here is Dave grilling up our skewers for dinner last night.  Thanks to Chris and Leona for bringing the grill and the couch and chairs down to us!  We like having furniture!

And here I am in the kitchen.  It really is such a fun little home.  And I will be posting more soon about some fun things that we are doing to improve it.

Our New Home!!

Well, I think that it's about time that we post some pictures of our new place in Pahrump.  Dave has been living here since April and I've been living here for almost a week, and when I post about what we're doing here I want you to be able to imagine it.  (These pictures were taken when we were first looking for a place back in March, so none of our stuff is in the house.  I'll have to post some more recent pictures.)

Here's Dave at the front of the house:

As you can see, the house comes partially furnished.  Here is the living room/dining room:

I love this ruffle on the ceiling!

And there's this awesome stained glass window looking in on the bathroom:

Look at the amazing "hot tub" tub:

There are two bedrooms with furniture, which we love:

Haha!  Okay, in case you haven't figured it out yet, this is not our new home!  This was one of the funniest places that we visited during our quest to find decent housing in Pahrump.  Don't worry, another post with pictures of our real new home is forthcoming.

We are sincerely looking forward to next week

So, we haven't been posting on our blog lately.  And when I finally signed in to Blogger to post again today, they had gone and changed everything!  It is definitely going to take me a while to get used to this new look.  And figure out where things are.  And it will probably take me a while to get back to my former regularity in posting.  But I'm willing to try.

Dave and I have had one long summer.  He's been in Nevada since April.  I've been down there quite a few times to visit, and he's come up here several times to visit and to take the Bar exam (Yes, he's finally done it!  I'll let him post on that sometime.).  But we are sincerely looking forward to living together again in just about 1 week!!!

More to come...
