A cop pulled me over last Thursday...

...because he ran my license plate and saw that I didn't have insurance.

WHAT!!?? Merry driving around without insurance? This doesn't sound like her, you say? That's because it's not like me! And I wasn't driving around without insurance. I don't know what went wrong, but somehow the cop thought I didn't have insurance when I really do. I even called my insurance agent the next day to make sure that I hadn't somehow accidentally missed a payment or canceled my coverage. No, I'm current on my insurance, just like I thought. What's up with that?

The System is so INVASIVE!!! I didn't get a ticket, but I was paused on my trip home from Isaac and Camber's house for about 10 minutes. I had to hand over my driver's license and insurance card to a complete stranger (albeit one who was in uniform and driving a cop car with its lights flashing). He came back and handed my stuff back, and said he believed that I had insurance even though it didn't show up.

He was about to let me go without even talking to me about what happened, until I said, "Wait!! Why doesn't the system show that I really have insurance?" I made him stand there for another 3 or 4 minutes answering my questions about what had just happened. It's the first time that I've ever had the courage to ask my questions to a cop, and it was kind of liberating. I'm still a little bugged, though, that I was pulled over for something that wasn't even a real problem, and then the cop wanted to get out of there without answering for it!

What kind of system have we set up for ourselves? Do any of you have a similar story, or an opinion about what happened to me? Craig, I'm sure you'll have something to say!

  2. Yeah! I wasn't driving around without insurance. And I had my card with me. That's probably why he eventually said that he'd let me go without a ticket.

  3. LOL! Do you know what I think? How much time does a cop really have (unless he follows you a while) to read your license plate and run it through the system for an insurance check? Do they do this with every car, or just random ones? These are rhetorical questions leading up to my point... I think he thought you were cute and pulled you over, but when you handed him all of your papers, he saw your ring and was really embarrassed. :-D

But it would be interesting to know the answers to all of these questions... and way to go, asking the man questions! The last time I got pulled over I had to ask him why he stopped me, too... turns out I missed a speed reduction sign, not being familiar with the area, and I was only given a warning. But yeah, it was weird that he wouldn't have told me if I hadn't asked.
