Reunion

This weekend Dave and I went to my 10-year high school reunion!  It was kind of crazy that it was already time for it.  I was excited to go, but a little nervous too.  I don't have the best memory for names, and I was worried that there would be lots of people whose names I couldn't remember.  I mean, there were lots of people in high school that I knew who they were, but I didn't interact with them regularly and they weren't my friends.  I am not surprised that my brain jettisoned their names years ago!  So I was nervous about how the reunion would go if that was the case with the majority.  :(

At the beginning, there were just a few people and it was a little awkward because there were a couple that I asked to tell me their names.  This was before they broke out the name tags.  But then when more and more people started showing up, there were lots of people I knew and I had so much fun talking to them that I didn't have time to talk to the people that I didn't recognize!

We had a school administrator give us a tour of the high school, since it has been remodeled in several areas.  The biggest changes were made to the cafeteria and the front of the school, so it was shocking to go in there at the beginning and see that it was so different.  I got to see all of the classrooms that I used to have class in, and I made a special trip to the choir room where I had so much fun singing in "Choraliers."  A lot of the school looked changed, but they hadn't done anything to spruce up the section of the school with the auditorium and the band, choir, and orchestra rooms.  It was kind of sad to see that the arts are so unappreciated.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out with my brother Joel, his wife Pam, and my nephew Will.  We went to get Thai food.  We played games.  We went to a farmers' market.  And Joel and Pam told Dave and me about a great place to go hiking that we decided to try out.  We went up Schultz Pass Road and hiked Sunset Trail.  We were trying to find Dry Lake and never found it.  But it was BEAUTIFUL up there!!  It was rainy all weekend (I love the monsoons!) and everything was so lush and green. I didn't get any pictures, but I told Dave that I have lots of pictures in my mind that I can think of again and again when the desert becomes too much for me.  It was a wonderful weekend in Flagstaff.
